Family medicine in Sub-Saharan Africa is a relatively new concept in most countries, thus family physicians are still trying to find their place within the healthcare system. Family medicine is not always recognized by the government, which has created issues in the implementation of family medicine programs. Family physicians are still discovering their role within the healthcare industry in many regions of Sub-Saharan Africa.
