Some other primary care deliverers other than family physicians include generalists, OB/GYNs, nurse practitioners, and physician's assistants (MedlinePlus). The role of family physicians are to be the personal doctors for everybody, regardless of age or condition. They also help patients prevent, understand, and manage illnesses, while also adapting to the patient and their community (Phillips, Robert L, et al., 2014). Family physicians are also used as gatekeepers in the States. They are gatekeepers to almost all medical resources (Forrest, Christopher B., 2003). The model of primary care that is used in community based (Phillips, Robert L, et al., 2014).
