Family medicine education was first introduced to Russia in the Far East due to its interaction with the United States. Now, there are 15 established family medicine training programs in Russia, with many coming out of the Far East (Christianson et al., 2007). In 2005, there were 4.9 physicians per 1000 citizens, and doctors were poorly trained and inadequately paid. Traditional folk healers are still recognized and constitute the largest proportion of non-practitioners (Hays, 2016). No other comprehensive data was found on Russia though an online scope or literature review. The initial literature scope was done to collect data from online sources, such as, medical school websites and the WHO website. The literature review was done to collect data from papers retrieved using Google, Google Scholar, PubMed, and Web of Science. More information will be added upon further correspondence with Dr. Maria Kluchnyk.
